Profile:?The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders opened on August 15, 1985 under the patronage of Mr. Deng Xiaoping. Nearly 4000 photos, 9992 cultural relics and 262 image data are on display, showcasing the themes of atrocity, struggle, victory, trial and peace. The camera used by John Maggie, a US pastor in shooting the historical images of Nanjing Massacre and the image data have been listed in Memory of the World Register?by UNESCO.
The memorial hall?has been visited by many CPC and China Central Government leaders including Mr. Xi Jinping. It was also visited by many foreign dignitaries,?i.e,?Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Jimmy Carter, former American president?of USA, Zeman, Czech President, ?scar Arias Sánchez, former president of Costa Rica?and Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former Japanese prime ministers?including Tomiichi Murayama, Toshiki Kaifu, Yukio Hatoyama and Yasuo Fukuda. Besides, it has received over 100 interviews by the medias of USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Spain, China Hong?Kong and China Macao. Up to now, it has been visited and viewed by 100 million visitors from more than 100 countries and regions.
The Memorial Hall?has been awarded titles of the first batch of national demonstration base for patriotism education, a major nationally protected cultural and historical site, a state-level museum and a National Civilized Unit. Since December 13, 2014, it has become a?permanent official venue of the state memorial ceremony for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre.
