The IoT Hospitality Project provides safe and refreshing consumption experience for visitors by employing various face-recognition systems in such places as hotels, restaurants, tourist spots in Shirahama.

Evaluation

Face recognition enables cashless service in restaurants and shops, premium services at airports and hotels. Visitors are able to enjoy their trip in ease and comfort, while assisting regional development. In addition, in the post-pandemic era interactions without human-to-human contact will address people’s concerns by reducing the spreading of infectious diseases.


Case Introduction

The Shirahama IoT Hospitality Project offers an ultimate visitor experience and attentive Japanese omotenashi care by employing various face-recognition systems not only at the nearby airport, but also at hotels, restaurants, commercial facilities and tourist spots. The systems are helping build a comfortable local community framework that offers secure, fun sight-seeing, shopping, beach walking, hot spring visits and hotel room access without the need to carry physical identification, keys or money.
