Nanjing Zidong International Creative Park is located in the south of Qixia District and the east foothill of Zijin Mountain. Its name “Zidong” comes from a Chinese idiom which means purple air comes from the east. Established in January 2009 with expected total investment of RMB 2.8 billion Yuan, Nanjing Zidong International Creative Park is an important part of the “New Qixia District of Wisdom” and listed as one of the “top 10 key cultural projects of Nanjing”.

The roof greening of Zidong International Creative Park has adopted a diversified design. In places that are not suitable for viewing, the lawn roof is the main one, with the goal of ecology, energy saving and floor protection; Some roofs are designed as combined roofs, including corridors, lawns and shrubs, which can be used as leisure places for employees; The roof of the public space in the park is designed as an aerial garden that is deeply loved by the owners, planting dozens of trees and flowers such as sweet-scented osmanthus, purple leaf plum, pomegranate, red maple and pipa tree. It not only has the elements of Nanjing local gardens, but also incorporates the matching of waterscape to form the Jiangnan water town on the roof; In addition, the park cooperated with Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences to build a rooftop farm with an area of 10,000 square meters, which has planted more than 60 kinds of crops and basically met the needs of more than 1,000 employees for Chinese food, fruits and vegetables.
Evaluation
In November 2010, Nanjing Zidong International Creative Park was recognized as "Green Building and Energy Efficiency Demonstration Park" by Jiangsu Provincial Government. At the World Roof Greening Conference in Hangzhou in November 2012, the park was awarded the title of "World Roof Greening Research and Teaching Demonstration Base" by the World Roof Greening Association. Greening the roof of the park not only beautifies the environment, realizes the self-sufficiency of vegetables, and fruits in Chinese food for employees, but also keeps the indoor temperature in a relatively balanced state all the year round, avoiding direct ultraviolet rays and greatly reducing indoor energy consumption. After the implementation of the project, people from all walks of life generally believe that the roof greening of the park has demonstration and guiding significance for intensive and economical utilization of land resources, restoration of building ecology, energy saving, low carbon and low impact development of sponge city function.
