Issues Addressed
A sheltered port owned by the City of Oulu and operated by Port Oulu Board. The port comprises the three main areas of Oritkari, Vihrerasaari and Nuottasaari. Oritkari is primarily used for handling containers and forest industry products, Nuottasaari is used for handling raw materials for the forest industry, and Vihre?saari focuses for liquid fuels and bulk goods.

Cargoes handled include dry and liquid bulk, forest products, containers, Ro-Ro and breakbulk The port is open throughout the year; with the assistance of icebreakers and fixed ice-prevention systems during the winter.

The largest general port in the Bothnian Bay, the Port of Oulu provides service in the most rapidly growing city in northern Europe. Operating all year round, the Port of Oulu is the leading port in the Bothnian Bay for forest industry products and container traffic. The region has an impressive seafaring and merchant fleet tradition: there has been a harbour in Oulu since the 14th century.
